This chapter presents an overview of modern technologies aimed at ensuring energy autonomy of ships and analyzes the prospects for their development in the future. The article discusses various aspects of alternative energy sources on ships, including solar panels, wind turbines, hydroelectric generators, and hybrid energy systems. Particular attention is paid to the advantages and challenges in the application of each technology, their efficiency and their impact on the environmental sustainability of shipping. Additionally, innovative developments in the field and the prospects for their implementation in practice are analyzed. The importance of energy autonomy for the shipping industry is emphasized and calls for further research and innovation in this important area of the maritime industry.
