Abdominal Imaging Techniques

A variety of imaging modalities may be employed in the evaluation of known or suspected abdominal pathology. Each modality has its own uses, benefits, and limitations, requiring an understanding of when each modality or study type should be used in the evaluation of a patient. This chapter will review the types of techniques and studies that can be used in abdominal imaging and discuss patient considerations, and pros and cons of each study type.
