Extraction of Alumina Value from Iron Ore Tailing by Using Flotation and Leaching Process
摘要
The aim of the study is to extract alumina value from iron ore tailing by using flotation and leaching process. Alumina can be removed from iron ore tailing using ether amine as a collector and corn starch as depressant through flotation process in alkaline medium ranging from pH 7 to 10. From the flotation studies the alumina was increased from 7.81% to 13.91%. Further the tailings generated after flotation were leached with acids like H2SO4 and HCl. The temperature maintained was 120 ℃ for H2SO4 and 150 ℃ for HCL and the time of digestion used was 10 h for H2SO4 and 15 h for HCL. The desired residue after filtration was dried and analysed in which alumina content was increased from 13.91% to 18.33% and 18.93% by using H2SO4 and HCL, respectively. The finding results were also supported by characterizing concentrates using SEM analysis.
