The nanoparticles (NPs) have drawn lots of attention due to their different physical, chemical and biological characteristics than their bulk equivalent in last two decades. Some NPs have shown detrimental health impact though NPs have got many applications. Thus, the NPs present in the Malanjkhand copper mine tailing have been identified using high resolution transmission electron microscope. Pyrite, titanium oxide, copper oxide and goethite are found in the nano-scale range from the mine tailings. NPs contain Zn, Co, Ni, Mo and Ag in variable quantity. Since the NPs have longer residence time both in air and water, and can travel longer distance, it would be interesting to have knowledge about the types of NPs in the mine tailings. Also, the presence of NPs in the tailing indicates that the tailing materials can also be used for the preparation of different NPs in future.
