This chapter summed up the results found after assessing the hydro-morphological, hydrochemical and hydrobiological assessment of Mahananda system and gives a clear picture of the river health condition of the studied system. It is revealed that the unconfined stretch of this studied river system has failed to fulfil most of the prerequisites of a healthy river. Conversely, the confined reaches have maintained their physical and chemical quality and hence can be assumed that the biota quality may be in good shape also. Lesser exploitation of natural resources induced by the lesser presence of humans due to topographic hindrances is the main determining factor behind this.

摘要
