The Behavior of High-strength Geo-polymer Columns with Ferro-cement

The focus of the study was on the structural response of geopolymer ferrocement columns made of high-strength concrete when subjected to axial loading. Thus, an experimental program was executed. Nine geopolymer ferrocement columns, each having 150 mm width × 150 mm depth × 1600 mm height, were tested up to failure while being subjected to axial compression forcese. The investigated variables included the number of wire meshes layers and steel reinforcement. The study assessed the performance of the geopolymer columns based on the cracking load, the cracking pattern, the maximum displacement, the maximum load, the ductility index and the energy absorption index. The results showed that columns with steel welded wire-mesh performed better with respect to the maximum load, the energy absorption index, and the ductility index.
