Robotic Livery Surgery for Malignant Tumors of the Biliary Tract

Biliary tract cancer comprises a group of rare malignancies with a generally poor prognosis, requiring radical resection for improved long-term survival. Conventional open surgery remains the primary approach for complex biliary resections. In experienced hands, a minimally invasive approach offers a safe and effective oncological management. The robotic platform, with its enhanced precision and dexterity, offers notable ergonomic and additional short-term advantages. Lymph node dissection is widely underperformed and ill-defined, but remains critical for accurate staging and treatment planning. Robotic-assisted lymphadenectomy shows promising results, although evidence of its therapeutic impact remains limited.
