Robotic Surgery Trends in General Oncological Surgery
摘要
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has evolved through the early phases of laparoscopy to the current more sophisticated robotic platforms, gradually overcoming the overt criticism from stalwarts of traditional open surgery. Application of minimally invasive surgery in surgical oncology has been challenging secondary to limitations of technology, specifically in maintaining principles of oncological resections. The adoption of laparoscopy in the late 1990s paved the path for technology in medicine, which subsequently led to the birth of the robotic surgical platform.
