Treatment of Chronic Pancreatitis via Nutraceuticals
摘要
The management of chronic pancreatitis poses significant challenges for healthcare professionals and individuals afflicted with the condition. Traditional treatment options often focus on alleviating symptoms and managing complications, with less focus on therapeutic interventions that target the underlying disease process. However, emerging evidence suggests that dietary nutrients and nutraceuticals may play a crucial role in the treatment and healing of chronic pancreatitis. This book chapter explores the potential of harnessing nutraceuticals and dietary nutrients as a complementary approach to the conventional management of chronic pancreatitis. It compiles an in-depth analysis of various nutraceuticals, including antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and fibrosis modifiers, that have shown promise in preclinical and clinical studies. It delves into the pathophysiology of the disease, highlighting the inflammatory processes, oxidative stress, and fibrosis that contribute to pancreatic tissue damage. By understanding these mechanisms, the chapter elucidates how specific dietary nutrients can modulate these processes, promote tissue repair, and potentially halt disease progression.
