摘要

The interplay between nutrients and physiology extends beyond primary metabolism. There’s a need to emphasise the vital role of nutrients in maintaining optimal physiological functioning. The metabolism’s conversion of nutrients into energy by the digestive system’s process of absorbing and breaking down nutrients and the utilisation of these nutrients by cells for supporting cellular processes and organ systems is a regulated physiological process. Thus, different nutrients are identified, and their specific roles and functions are being explored to design various nutraceuticals for human well-being. Building upon this understanding of the dynamic relationship between nutrients and physiology, the chapter explores the concept of nutraceuticals in personalised preventive medicine. The potential of nutraceuticals as targeted interventions in preventive medicine needs to be examined. This chapter explores how nutrients interact with specific organ systems, influencing their functions and overall health. It also explores the intricate and dynamic interaction between nutrients and physiological processes, highlighting their significance in preventive medicine and the development of nutraceuticals.
