Clinical Trials on Aging Research
摘要
Clinical trialsClinical trial are powerful tools for providing interventionsInterventions with solid evidence to improve the health of older adultsOlder adults. However, careful design and sometimes adaptation of the methodologyMethodology of clinical trialsClinical trial are necessary to improve the accuracy of the results and ensure expedited translation of the results into everyday practice. However, pharmacological trials for chronic diseasesChronic disease still have an underrepresentation of older adultsOlder adults, and when including them, considerations for this age groupAge groups are not always incorporated into the designs. On the other hand, innovations in agingAging researchResearch include novelNovel approaches for testing interventionsInterventions that go beyond traditional pharmacological trials. For example, aiming at targets known as ‘hallmarks of agingHallmarks of aging’, different studies have focused on conditions of agingAging, having promising results. Examples of these novelNovel studies, along with a general and schematic review of the theoretical concept of clinical trialsClinical trial and their variants, are addressed in this chapter.
