Towards an Effective Transformation of Moroccan Higher Education: A Conceptual Model for the digitalization of Soft Skills

The implementation of the ESRI 2030 PACT, an ambitious initiative focused on digital transformation through national and international partnerships, has enabled Morocco to establish collaborations with internationally renowned universities. In doing so, the country is strengthening its role as a key player in higher education in the region. The ultimate goal is to achieve equitable and inclusive internationalization and digital transformation that is accessible to all students. This will be achieved through the implementation of adapted programs, the training of qualified teachers, and the promotion of student autonomy. An inclusive public policy is identified as an essential element to improve the quality of higher education in Morocco, while following the evolution of education in a constantly changing world. This chapter presents the results of an in-depth analysis of academic sources, government reports, and case studies on internationalization and digitalization in higher education in Morocco. It examines the trends, policies, and initiatives implemented within the framework of the country’s higher education reform. The results of this research highlight the crucial importance of internationalization, digitization, and the integration of transversal skills, known as “soft skills.” The acquisition of these skills has become a major asset for students’ personal and professional success. In an era of pedagogical innovation, Moroccan higher education faces challenges in preparing graduates for the demands of the global job market.
