This article examines the paradigm shift from traditional data-to-code processing to code pushdown technology in enhancing budget reporting within ERP systems. In contrast to traditional approaches that execute operations on the application server, the modern architecture of SAP HANA enables operations to be performed directly within the database. The paper provides a detailed analysis of technologies such as Core Data Services (CDS) and ABAP Managed Database Procedures (AMDP), comparing their functionalities and highlighting the distinctions between them. Core Data Services enhance speed, performance, flexibility, and data integrity by facilitating efficient and reliable budget reporting processes at the database level. Similarly, ABAP Managed Database Procedures improve information access and significantly reduce execution time through optimized database processing. The article describes the implementation of these technologies and presents example performance tests to demonstrate their effectiveness. It details how these technologies have been utilized within ERP systems, showcasing how they have been leveraged to maximize the benefits of code pushdown. The results underscore the transformative potential of SAP HANA’s database capabilities, demonstrating a significant improvement over traditional data processing methods.
