This chapter looks at the climate change scenarios unique to Fiji and Indonesia, two places extremely susceptible to the effects of climate change. It summarizes the anticipated changes in the climate, such as rising sea levels, temperatures, precipitation patterns, and the frequency of extreme weather occurrences. These scenarios illustrate each nation’s exposure to and sensitivity to climate threats by placing them in their geographic, environmental, and socioeconomic environments. The analysis focuses on sectoral impacts, such as risks to water resources, infrastructure, public health, agriculture, and fisheries—all essential to both countries’ economies and means of subsistence. The chapter examines how these changes have a domino effect on biodiversity and social systems.
