Weber, Max
摘要
Max Weber (1864–1920) was a German jurist, political economist, and social scientist. This essay examines his intellectual background and academic career in economics and law, his place in the youngest German Historical School, his economic legacy, his work in economic and legal theory and economic and legal history, and his contributions to law and economics in his work Economy and Society, among his other notable publications. Focus is given to works of his that engage religion, in which he derives legal norms in a historical fashion. In regard to his contributions to economics, an emphasis is made on political economy, with his economic contributions presented in that context, as well as among a larger historical portrait.
