This chapter evaluates the results of a case study with the use of Immersive Virtual Reality (I-VR) between two cohorts of University students integrated as part of a Global Learning Experiences (GLE) collaboration, as a tool for fostering intercultural competence, with a focus on how this approach can contribute to sustainable development. The chapter discusses the contribution of education in developing intercultural competence as a way of promoting the sustainable development goals. It also draws on the literature available related to the advantages and challenges of the use of virtual reality in providing engaging immersive and interactive learning experiences. Following the presentation of the case study and its evaluation, the chapter concludes with an examination of virtual exchange’s wider pedagogical implications in developing intercultural competence, raising awareness of sustainability, and encouraging collaborative learning. The closing remarks also highlight how international learning opportunities can help shape the next generation of environmentally conscious leaders by providing them a thorough comprehension of environmental concepts.
