摘要

The study of conceptual metaphors in linguistics and computer science highlights the fundamental role of metaphor in our daily lives, including how we perceive, interpret, and communicate information. This study applies Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to various technological dialogues to examine how conceptual metaphors affect human cognitive understanding and our use of emerging technologies. Metaphors simplify and make complex ideas accessible, but if taken too literally, they can limit our understanding of complex phenomena and hinder scientific progress. When we interpret metaphors as exact representations, scientific advancement can be constrained by these oversimplified views. This work highlights the importance of analysing the metaphors underpinning our conceptual systems, particularly in computer science and new technologies. The chapter outlines the role of metaphors in the notion of the Great Reset and provides an overview of metaphors extracted from the documentation on this topic. It is important to note that metaphor is not just a poetic device but a fundamental aspect of how we speak and perceive the world in everyday life. Therefore, the influence of metaphors on our understanding of new technologies and their impact on our daily lives should continue to be explored.
