The Great Reset, an Opportunity or Threat

The World Economic Forum’s Great Reset proposal aims to improve societal well-being by transitioning the market from neoliberal capitalism to stakeholder capitalism. The analysis undertaken focuses on tangible attributes of the market and in particular pathologies that can manifest as market hegemony and its impact on social welfare, while recognizing the impact of intangible ones. Using a cybernetic perspective through Mindset Agency Theory (MAT), the study examines the influence of affect and cognition mindsets on market processes. A comparative analysis of neoliberal and stakeholder capitalism reveals conditions that may lead to market failure. Differentiating eight types of stakeholder capitalism based on specific mindsets enhances understanding of their potential in addressing market hegemony challenges. The paper calls for further research to deepen our understanding of cybernetics and capitalism, emphasizing the importance of exploring their dynamic relationship for comprehensive insights.
