The MetaverseMetaverse is an areaSpace of opportunityMethodology for all human activities related to the Internet. It presents a perspective of the future where society's life will unfold (Schumacher, 2022). Understanding architectureArchitecture as a container of people and activities defined by vertical and horizontal elements, openings and closures, and the metaverseMetaverse as an environmentEnvironment where the virtual and physical coexist (Tang and Hou in CAADRIA Proceedings, 2022), some fundamental questions arise: what could be the shape of this spaceSpace? To what extent should these architecturesArchitecture contemplate virtual elements and components of the physical world? To answer these questions, the study addresses the dynamics of information capture and participatory designParticipatory design with people between the ages of 4 and 72. This allows us to observe and compare the surprising skills and spatial sensitivity that childrenChildren demonstrate concerning the interpretation of distance, angles, and direction (Newcombe and Huttenlocher in Handbook of child psychology, 2007), the transformation of childhoodChildhood object recognition into spatial abstractions conditioned by formalized representation codes (Newcombe and Huttenlocher in Handbook of child psychology, 2007) and the formation of languages that enable the understanding of the physical world, beyond recognition and coding, which allows the conceptualization behind spatial compositions. The research established that there is a desire to idealize the inhabited spaceSpace according to what is known at a physical and conceptual level. In this sense, to propose the spaceSpace in the metaverseMetaverse, it is necessary to learn from the different ways the spatialities of the real world are understood, including in this reading the diversity offered by different types of users, from childhoodChildhood to mature adulthood.
