The research focus in the events that occurred during the designDesign and construction process of the Schindler house, originally attributed to the Viennese architect R. M. SchindlerR.M. Schindler in Los Angeles between 1919 and 1925. It aims to give visibilityVisibility to the participation of his wife, the composer, writer and American political activist Pauline GiblingPauline Gibling, who played an important role in the development of the ideas that gave rise to the house, while actively participating during its construction and in the meetings that began around 1923. The house went down in history as the Schindler house, overlooking the significant participation of Gibling in the outline of the way of living that gave rise to its spacesSpace, the development of the designDesign, the management of the financing of the construction, and her effort to drive the project to its completion. This house brought together important cultural actors of the time (politicians, artists and architects) who supported avant-gardeAvant-garde thinking and were part of the materialization of the emerging modernity of the twentieth century. The study of the case of the house on Kings Road has allowed, in addition, to make a review of the definition of the authorship of the architectureArchitecture project during the modern movement, a period in which the figure of the architect was built individually, omitting the historiography the intervention of other important actors like Gibling Schindler, who promoted, built and were decisive in the foundation of modernity.
