In areas of irregular occupation, the impact on residential infrastructure is visibly greater. However, it is observed that in the context of irregularity there are faster adaptationAdaptation responses to floods than in consolidated urban areas. To establish which type of building adapts best to flood conditions in the context of irregular occupation within the central area of ChileChile, the case of Laguna VerdeLaguna Verde, Valparaíso, was studied. Here it was detected that adaptationAdaptation occurs from transformations of the houses generally from the cube, which is the most governable figure culturally for the residents. Tests were developed with scale models to identify a structural form that allows supporting a progressive house. Subsequently, a prototype of a residential module was built, taking care to make a simple, replicable, affordable system that can be self-built. The experience allowed guiding an initial approach toward the designDesign of progressive houses adapted for areas of irregular occupation in the process of settlement.
