MRI in the Diagnosis of PNST: State-of-the-Art and Recent Advancements
摘要
Peripheral nerve sheath tumors encompass multiple entities, including benign and malignant lesions. Besides ultrasonography, which remains the mainstay of evaluating superficial lesions, magnetic resonance imaging plays a pivotal role in diagnosing peripheral nerve sheath tumors. However, different imaging features overlap, making the diagnosis challenging. Biopsy with histological evaluation remains the final step for correct diagnosis. Advanced magnetic resonance neurography techniques, such as diffusion-weighted imaging with apparent diffusion coefficient value, diffusion tensor imaging, and tractography, have increased the accuracy in characterizing peripheral nerve sheath tumors.
