Present Day’s Planning Concepts
摘要
Location/site planning is not an end in itself. The creation and maintenance of locations/sites are also no “value in itself”. Location/site development only makes sense where industrial activity is “paid” and where production costs can be justified by sales revenue. The daily practice proves the truth of this seeming truism. The German sentence: “Das, was wir teurer sind, müssen wir besser sein!” (We have to be better to compensate the things which are becoming more expensive), reflects this contrast with regard to the German conditions. During the crisis in 2009, it can clearly be seen that at first labor unions and shop councils and to a certain extent also parts of the politics are fighting for the maintenance of the industrial locations/sites; however, this is primarily due to reasons of job protection. The management mainly focuses on production costs at the relevant location/site and trends to result in outsourcing solutions or location/site tasks and/or offshoring.
