Preventing Urinary and Sexual Dysfunctions After Prostatectomy: Surgical Tips and Tricks
摘要
Radical prostatectomy represents a standard option for the treatment of localized prostate cancer. Despite the improvement in the surgical technique mainly related to the spread of robotic approach, erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence are bothersome complications that patients and physicians face postoperatively. Keeping intact the pelvic anatomy and preserving those functional structures responsible for sexual health and continence remain the main goal for a pelvic surgeon. The aim of this chapter is to provide an overview on the reconstructive techniques and preservation approaches to improve the functional outcome and early recovery in patients treated with robotic radical prostatectomy.
