The Senate follows a specific schedule during each day of the session. During morning business, or the first two hours of each day, the Senate handles non-controversial and unopposed business. After that, the Senate proceeds to take up matters under consideration from the Senate calendar of business. For the purposes of your course, I recommend setting aside a specific amount of time at the start of each session for morning business. For a fifty-minute class, I recommend dedicating the first ten minutes of each class session to Morning Business, and the remainder to General Business. For an hour and fifteen-minute class, I recommend 15 minutes. Be sure to consult with your instructor for the exact amount of time dedicated to morning business.
