Enhancing Student Interest and Motivation Through Cultural Integration in an Online Global Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Community

This study investigates the interplay between cultural integration and student interest or motivation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) within the Asset Based Learning Environment (ABLE) online global community. Findings highlight the importance of integrating cultural elements into STEM education to enhance its effectiveness and appeal. U.S. learners modeled all cultural constructs comprehensively, while Ghanaian learners showed strong links between culture, cultural sensitivity, and STEM. These insights emphasize the need for culturally tailored educational approaches to foster interest and motivation in STEM, accounting for local contextual differences promoting a nuanced understanding of STEM principles.
