摘要

COVID-19, or coronavirus disease 2019, stems from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, known for its high contagion and rapid spread. The United States has witnessed over a million fatalities due to COVID-19. Primarily affecting the respiratory system, the disease’s symptoms often mimic those of a common cold, the flu, or pneumonia. COVID-19 not only attacks your lungs and respiratory system, but also affects other parts of your body such as heart, brain, kidneys, and blood vessels. While some individuals experience mild symptoms, some face severe illness, such as multiorgan effects (heart, lung, kidney, skin, and brain) or autoimmune conditions. Transmission occurs through infected individuals exhaling droplets and tiny particles containing the virus.
