The Dangerous Use of X-ray Fluoroscopy on African Mine Workers

Kimberley, South Africa, is home to the world’s largest diamond mine, also known as the “Big Hole.” Dug by humans, it is so large that it is visible from space and has yielded some of the world’s largest diamonds. This diamond mine has made the De Beers name famous worldwide. Although little of the riches from the Kimberley mines have actually benefited native South Africans, the treasures enriched the founder of De Beers, Englishman Cecil Rhodes, and other imperialists.
