How the Eruption of Mt. Tambora Shaped Present-Day Missouri: The Impact of Climate Events on Human Migration
摘要
The eruption of Mt. Tambora, an active stratovolcano in West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, displaced living things, including people, and caused mass migrations (Watson in Climate change is already fueling global migration 2022). This climate event had direct and indirect impacts on Earth’s systems and human activity over different time and spatial scales. The eruption of Mt. Tambora in 1815 was the largest volcanic eruption in the last several centuries and is a well-chronicled event demonstrating the profound interdependence of climate change and human and natural systems (Wood in Tambora: The eruption that changed the world 2014).
