Rooted in Design: A Designer’s Perspective on Learning Experience Design

  • Niels Floor

摘要

This chapter explores Learning Experience Design (LXD), an interdisciplinary field that blends creative design with learning. Originating in 2007, LXD varies globally in interpretation, often viewed through related disciplines like instructional design (ID) and user experience design (UXD). The work highlights LXD’s unique position as a bridge between design disciplines, particularly UXD and experience design, and the learning sector. It discusses the differences and similarities between UXD and LXD, emphasizing LXD’s holistic approach to designing comprehensive learning experiences. The chapter further showcases this through a case study of designing learning experiences for Dutch prisoners reentering society, integrating design research and user interface design. Ultimately, the chapter argues that LXD’s foundation lies in creative design, essential for creating transformative and impactful learning experiences.
