Transdisciplinary Learning Experience Design: Using Q Methodology to Explore Perspectives From the 2023 AECT Summer Research Symposium
摘要
This chapter introduces the 2023 Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Summer Research Symposium (SRS), which focused on Learning Experience Design (LXD), a transdisciplinary and emerging design philosophy integrating human-computer interaction, user experience design, and instructional design. The current volume includes 17 chapters, showcasing diverse approaches to LXD, from theoretical explorations to practical applications. The symposium’s innovative Pro-action Café format facilitated dynamic discussions, culminating in the development of the manuscripts featured in this volume. A significant aspect of the symposium was the application of Q methodology, the results of which are reported herein. Four distinct perspectives on LXD were revealed from application of Q methodology: (1) socio-cultural influences, (2) human-centered design, (3) multidisciplinary integration, and (4) adaptation of user experience design for learning contexts. These insights emphasize the importance of empathetic and inclusive approaches in LXD, advocating for a deeper understanding of learner contexts and needs. By extending the dialogue initiated at the symposium, this volume fosters ongoing research collaborations and contributes to the evolving landscape of LXD.
