A Gift Problem with U-Number-Valued Information

摘要

It is known that real decision-making tasks are characterized by imprecision and partial reliability. Zadeh proposed the Z-number theory as a general theory explaining imprecision and partial reliability of real information. Z-information, as a basis of simulation of real processes, allows for a more adequate and intuitive consideration of information. Z-number is defined as an ordered pair of fuzzy numbers (Z = (A, B)), used to characterize value of variable X. A is the linguistic value of X, and B is the linguistic evaluation of the of this value of A. Formally, B can be interpreted as the estimation of the probability measure of A. Aliev puts forward the theory of U-number, which is a special case of Z-number. The reliability part of U-number is expressed in terms «rarely», «often», «usually». People mostly use U-numbers in their daily judgments. The importance of U-number theory lies in solution of knowledge-based issues. In this article, the question of a gift problem is solved by utilization of U-number theory.
