Optimizing Melanoma Therapy Decision-Making with a Multi-criteria Analytical Approach

Currently, skin cancer is among the most hazardous conditions affecting people on a global scale. This malignancy typically impacts melanocytes, particularly melanoma, although it also involves a range of somatic cell types from various organs. Patients receive explanations of several therapeutic techniques that are tailored to their stage of cancer. The most frequently recommended treatments include surgery, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation therapy, chemotherapy electrochemotherapy, light-based therapy, oncolytic virus therapy, bio-chemotherapy, autophagy inhibition, and nanotechnology. Some of these strategies are used as monotherapy, while others are coupled in a synergistic way to increase effectiveness. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of different melanoma therapy options by carefully weighing several important aspects, such as the cost, survival rate, efficacy, cancer stage, side effects, recovery, treatment time, and other important criteria. The fuzzy Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (fuzzy PROMETHEE) technique was applied for the assessment. According to the results of this research, nanomedicine was the most effective treatment approach, ranking first with a net flow coefficient of 0.0637, whereas autophagy inhibition ranks eleventh with a net flow coefficient of -0.0867. It is evident how fuzzy PROMETHEE is effective in ranking and decision-making mechanisms. This research makes a significant contribution to the planning of cancer therapy by giving patients and decision-makers a platform for making informative choices as well as simplifying and improving the decision-making procedure.
