Leveraging Big Data for Competitive Advantage in Entrepreneurship: A Decade of Insights

Big data is one of the significant forces for innovation and competitive advantage in entrepreneurship. Integration of vast datasets presents opportunities for entrepreneurs to find insights, predict trends, and enable data-driven decision-making. This study aims to systematically map and analyze the global trends of big data research in entrepreneurship across countries over a decade. We examine 234 scholarly publications from 2014 to 2023 indexed in Scopus to discover the thematic evolution, research trends, and the critical role of big data in entrepreneurship using the bibliometric approach. Biblioshiny is a bibliometric analysis tool utilized in this research. We systematically analyze the dataset to identify the summary statistics, publication performance, three-field plot, word cloud, thematic maps, and trend topics. Our findings indicated a substantial growth trend in the scientific production related to big data in entrepreneurship. An increasing annual production performance suggests a growing trend of interest in the topic and big data's value in gaining competitive entrepreneurship advantages. The three-field analysis of author, keyword, and cited reference highlighted diverse international contributions reflecting this research area's global relevance and interdisciplinary nature. Trending topics, motor themes, and word cloud refer to innovation, performance, commerce, data analytics, AI, decision-making, big data, advanced analytics, IoT, and data mining. This study contributes to the literature through a comprehensive review of the evolving landscape of big data in entrepreneurship across decades. These findings emphasize big data's importance in transforming entrepreneurial ventures by enabling better-informed decisions, fostering innovation, and enhancing competitive advantage in the digital era.
