Ancillary Procedures in Orthofacial Surgery: Malarplasty, Lipofilling, Bichectomy, and Jaw Angles

By restoring skeletal harmony, the facial profile can be optimized, the soft tissue envelope resuspended, and tension on ligamentous facial support reset. However, adjunctive procedures to restore surrounding structures’ proportions (neck, malar bone, cheeks, and mandibular angles among others) can improve the aesthetic results of orthognathic surgery. The most relevant combining procedures are explained in detail below; facial implants, fat grafting or fillers, liposuction, and skin tightening can provide aesthetically optimal results.
