Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Hearing loss affects 20.3% of the world’s population. There are many reasons for hearing loss. One cause of hearing loss is noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) due to exposure to loud environmental noise. NIHL is a common and easily preventable condition. However, no treatment can reverse permanent hearing loss once it has occurred. Therefore, controlling noise sources, educating those at risk, regular inspections of noisy workplaces, providing protective equipment, regular hearing tests for workers in these workplaces, early detection of hearing loss, medical treatment, and preventive measures are the most important and effective ways to deal with NIHL.
