摘要

Otoplasty is a surgical procedure used to correct various auricular deformities. This procedure is now widely used to correct prominent ear anomalies, often for aesthetic reasons. Otoplasty is applicable to both pediatric and adult populations and can be performed under local or general anesthesia. The surgical procedures used in otoplasty vary depending on the patient’s age, the flexibility of the cartilage, the type of deformity, and the surgeon’s preference. Surgical procedures can range from cartilage-sparing, cartilage-cutting, combined methods to minimally invasive interventions. Postoperative care is essential to reduce the risk of infection and speed the healing process, and patients are usually given specific recommendations. Follow-up after otoplasty is critical to optimizing surgical outcomes and ensuring patient satisfaction. Postoperative follow-up visits are typically performed at one week, one month, and three months after surgery. These exams are crucial for evaluating the healing process and early detection of potential complications. While otoplasty is generally considered a safe procedure, as with any surgical procedure, there are risks. Potential complications include infection, hematoma, scar tissue formation, auricular asymmetry, and sensory loss. Most of these complications are rare and can be minimized with appropriate surgical techniques and postoperative care. In conclusion, otoplasty is an effective surgical procedure for the correction of auricular deformities. Individualized surgical application tailored to each patient’s deformity is a critical factor in achieving successful results.
