Wearable Health Technology—a Perspective
摘要
Wearable Health Technology (WHT) has become a ground-breaking instrument in healthcare, providing previously unseen possibilities for proactive and individualized health and well-being monitoring. This article describes an overview of wearable health technology, including its uses, advantages, and drawbacks. Smartwatches, fitness trackers, and biosensors are examples of wearable technology that allows continuous surveillance of vital signs, physical activity, sleep patterns, and other health parameters. This technology gives users the ability to manage their health in real-time. Wearable technology combined with AI algorithms and sophisticated data analytics provides tailored insights and practical advice for managing chronic diseases, improving general lifestyle, and preventing illness. Wearable health technology has enormous potential, but issues with user adoption, interoperability, security, and data privacy still exist. Stakeholders including healthcare practitioners, tech developers, legislators, and consumers must work together to address these issues. WHT has full potential to transform healthcare delivery, enhance patient outcomes, and advance population health in the digital age. Healthcare sector has seen a shift due to WHT, which provides cutting-edge methods for tracking, evaluating, and improving people’s health. These wearables allow for continuous real-time data collection on a variety of physiological characteristics. They range from smartwatches and fitness trackers to sophisticated biomedical sensors. The many effects of WHT on patient involvement, preventative medicine, and healthcare delivery are examined in this abstract. Wearable technology is being incorporated into medical procedures to provide proactive and individualized health management. These gadgets monitor various parameters (e.g., sleep patterns, level of physical activity, and heart rate) giving users and medical professionals insightful data on general health. Wearable data is generating more thorough understandings of people’s health states, enabling faster interventions and early diagnosis of possible problems. WHT encourages a move away from episodic care and toward ongoing surveillance and preventative measures. Wearables promote a sense of accountability and healthy lifestyle choices by giving people ability to actively control their personal well-being. Wearables also make it possible to monitor patients remotely, giving medical professionals more opportunities to improve patient care outside of typical clinical settings. Issues with data accuracy, privacy, and interoperability are important factors to take into account before wearable health equipment is widely used. However, continuous developments in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and sensor technologies help to overcome these obstacles and raise the general efficacy of wearable health devices. WHT encourages preventive, data-driven, and more individualized method. The integration of these devices into healthcare ecosystems, as they develop further, has possibilities to change patient outcomes, boost effectiveness of healthcare delivery, and support a proactive, wellness-focused healthcare paradigm. The chapter examines new developments in wearable health technologies as well as potential future paths. The main issues with wearable health technologies are covered in this chapter. This chapter highlights the evolution of wearable technology across time, from the earliest prototypes to the highly advanced, multipurpose gadgets that are on the market today. It examines the underlying technologies—such as wireless communication, sensors, and data analytics—that power wearable health devices and emphasizes how important they are to the continuous and unobtrusive monitoring of health. The chapter examines how wearable health technology is transforming healthcare delivery across various domains.
