The Gravity Equation

  • Panayotis G. Michaelides

摘要

The Gravity Equation, deeply rooted in Newtonian Physics, is a standard tool in analyzing international trade and economic relationships. This chapter sheds light on the evolution, theoretical foundations, and empirical applications of the Gravity Equation. From its emergence in post-World War II Economics to its extended form incorporating cultural, linguistic, and institutional factors, the model’s versatility is examined. Implications for predicting trade patterns, regional integration, and policy formulation are discussed. However, the model’s limitations and critiques remind us of the need for a deeper understanding of global economic dynamics.
