We Need to Diversify the Narratives of Porto: Museum Spaces for the Local Community
摘要
This work will study the universe of visitors who attend the museum spaces of Porto City Council (CMP). A reflection will be carried out on how the museum network manages to attract different audiences, taking into account the mass tourism that Porto has increasingly received in the last 10 years, and whether this network can capture the attention of the local population. The city’s tourist expansion brought new life to a territory that was aged and almost forgotten. Urban renovations are part of the daily lives of those who visit Porto: We see new spaces emerging constantly that try to attract tourists and sometimes nationals/locals. It is, therefore, as a collaborator of a Museum, that the following reflection will be held on museum spaces and their correlation with the current climate of mass tourism experienced in the city.
