Promoting Multi-stakeholder Collaboration for Nature-Based Sustainable Development
摘要
The world has been facing numerous environmental-social issues mainly attributed to the ever-increasing global urbanisation. It has been determined that nature-based solutions can address problems like climate change and human well-being, which will contribute to the accomplishment of sustainable development objectives. Nature-based Solutions help in the mitigation of natural hazards for instance flooding, erosion and landslides, and help build societal resilience. To ensure sustainable development through Nature-based Solutions, it’s crucial to incorporate the viewpoints and indigenous wisdom of citizens and stakeholders. The only way to do this is to set up efficient channels for engagement, communication, and feedback. Efficient collaboration among multiple stakeholders is important for the sustained success of any effort centred around Nature-based Solutions. This chapter draws on a variety of professional sources, and provides methods and frameworks for wide stakeholder participation, highlighting the varied global settings of Nature-based Solutions and providing fundamental concepts, approaches, benefits and challenges for involving multi-stakeholders. While each Nature-based Solutions project is unique due to its location, climate, undertakings and the involved stakeholders, certain best practices are highlighted to promote and upscale the Nature-based Solutions initiatives.
