The Role of Religion in Equipping Malawian Women for Sustainable Development and Politics
摘要
Most religious people think that there is no correlation between the environment they are living in and their religion. They think these are two different entities. However, The Britannica Dictionary has defined ecology as the study of the interrelationship between organism and their environment. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as a branch of science concerned with the interrelationship of organism and their environment or the totality or pattern of relations between organism and their environment. Both definitions talk about the relationship that is there between organisms and the environment. Therefore, the fact that humanity is one of the organisms means religion aims to be greatly involved and play a vital role in making sure that this human being takes full responsibility for the stewardship of the environment. This is so because you cannot talk about religion without talking about human beings; it directly deals with people. Unfortunately, the failure to understand the relationship between the two (religion and ecology) has led to the failure of religion to take up its divine role of preserving the environment. It is for this purpose that this chapter aims to find out the critical role that religion has in making sure that the whole ecological system is preserved and protected.
