Postscript: Judging and Justifying While Riding the Tiger of History

The Postscript to this book, updated for September 2024, was originally published as the annual Christmas message to Social Epistemologists in 2020, without having anticipated the 6 January 2021 insurrection on the US Capitol. It brings together many of themes developed in the preceding pages about judgement and justification, only now applied to world events. It focuses on the need for academics to adopt an ‘orthogonal’ perspective on the world to succeed in ‘riding the tiger of history’.
