The study aims to study Jordan’s legal and policy framework regarding environmental protection and the control of environmental crimes. It investigates the laws and judicial mechanisms devised for dealing with environmental hazards and fighting against violations in Jordan. By touching upon the nature and definition of environmental crimes, as well as highlighting criminal policies implemented and common types of environmental crimes in Jordanian legislation, it focuses on the problems and innovations in this sphere, as well as the measures to be taken for combating the offenses. When criminal penalties are imposed on environmental crimes, the aim of such action is to discipline wrongdoers to save nature and ensure no repeated cases. These penalties play a deterrent role among the criminals and help in attaining social justice. They may be financial penalties, imprisonment penalties, or administrative penalties based on the nature and seriousness of the environmental crime committed. Determination and enforcement of these penalties are under national laws relating to environmental protection as well as combating crimes against the environment.
