The Extent of Coverage of All Types of Compensation for Damages Caused by Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Jordanian Legislation
摘要
The primary consequence of civil liability, which is of utmost importance, is the provision of compensation. This serves as the main method of rectifying the harm suffered by the affected parties. It is crucial to note that compensation is not exclusive to the aggrieved individual but can also encompass others who have experienced damages caused by artificial intelligence technologies. However, the issue at hand lies in the insufficiency of general legal principles within Jordanian legislation when it comes to addressing compensation for damages resulting from the utilization of artificial intelligence technologies. Are all forms of damages caused by these technologies eligible for compensation? Or are there specific types of compensation that apply to damages arising from the use of artificial intelligence technologies? What exactly are these types? The study’s findings and suggestions included several key points. One of the most significant findings is that if the harmful act and resulting damage can be proven, along with a causal connection between the two, tort liability arises in the context of artificial intelligence applications in Jordanian civil law. In such cases, the individual responsible for the damage is obligated to compensate the injured party in order to rectify the harm caused. The researchers express their desire for the Jordanian legislator to consider revising the provisions regarding contractual liability, following the example set by the Egyptian legislator.
