This paper studies the influence of metaphorical language on risk perception and decision-making processes. It investigates how metaphors shape individuals’ understanding of risk, particularly in healthcare and policy-making. Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory provide a foundation for understanding the psychological mechanisms underlying metaphorical language's impact. The paper also examines the role of metaphor in influencing both individual risk perception and collective policy decisions. It highlights the potential of metaphorical language to influence decision-making processes with suggestions on how to mitigate these biases.
