Nanosensors for Soil and Nutrients Analytics

摘要

One of the main markers of soil fertility is the organic matter in the soil. A reduction in the concentration of soil organic components often indicates a deterioration in soil quality. Hence, the identification and quantification of soil organic molecules have significant importance. Nanosensors have received a lot of interest in recent years owing to their usage in a variety of industries, including medicine, agriculture, and the environment. This chapter explores the application of nanosensors in assessing soil and nutrient analytics. Specifically, it focuses on the detection of pesticides, trace metals, and greenhouse gas emissions. Advanced nanostructured materials, such as metal oxides and carbon-based composites, play a crucial role in enabling precise measurement of soil parameters, including contaminants and nutrients. These nanosensors exhibit enhanced sensitivity and selectivity due to their increased surface area and reactivity, thereby allowing for real-time and in-situ analysis. The chapter also discusses sensor designs, mechanisms, and various applications in the field of sustainable agriculture. By integrating nanosensors into smart farming practices, the chapter suggests that crop management can be enhanced, and environmental conservation can be achieved, thereby offering a transformative approach to modern agriculture.
