Bicruciate Substituting Total Knee Arthroplasty

Bicruciate substituting (BCS) total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has become an increasingly popular treatment for end-stage knee arthritis. The current study discusses native knee kinematics, BCS TKA design features, and the clinical outcomes associated with this new implant design. Recent studies of the new second-generation BCS TKA implant have demonstrated consistently improved knee kinematics and patient-reported outcomes. However, future studies are warranted to evaluate the long-term outcomes of the second-generation BCS TKA and to compare them to other popular TKA designs including cruciate retaining (CR) and posterior stabilized (PS) TKA.
