The oxidoreductase enzyme laccase demonstrates versatile catalytic abilities under mild conditions, making it a well-investigated catalyst for a range of industrial applications. Its adaptability extends from pulp and paper to textile, bioremediation, and bioenergy processes. Due to changes in consumer patterns, this chapter will present bioprocesses, genetic engineering, and other approaches to boost enzyme yields. Future perspectives, along with challenges to reduce costs, will also be discussed to facilitate its wider adoption in biotechnology. Overcoming these challenges can enhance the position of laccase as a pivotal player in sustainable biotechnological processes, paving the way for eco-friendly solutions and the generation of advanced products across various industries.
