Text Clustering: Evaluation

This chapter is concerned with the schemes of evaluating text clustering systems or approaches. We adopt the evaluation measure, called clustering index. We compute the average intra-cluster similarity and the average inter-cluster similarity and integrated them into a single measure. It is used for evaluating not only hard clustering but also soft clustering. In this chapter, we explain the schemes of evaluating text clustering systems and mention the clustering algorithms with the parameter tuning.
